Screen

As you can see, both terminals have same size screens, ideal for playing multimedia content and enjoying a good panel. In this section, both phones are very good, but the Mate 10, has a QHD resolutionwhile the Mate 9 has FullHD resolution.

In addition, they have a very notable difference in the use of the front. The Mate 10 has a 82% of use, while the screen of the Mate 9 falls short by approximately 76% or less.

On the other hand, the taste of each person comes into play, since some prefer IPS panels and others choose LCD panels. Which do you prefer?

Processor

In this section we see a huge jump, we went from Kirin 960, to Kirin 970 with NPU. Do you know what an NPU module is? This is a kind of artificial intelligence that learns from the use that we give to our mobile and with it, improves the resources in general (the cores and the consumption). If you want to know all the details of this new processor and its artificial intelligence, don’t hesitate to take a look at all the information we have for you.

If we explain it further, we go from a Kirin 960 with 8 cores (4 working at 2.4 GHz and 4 at 1.8 GHz), to a Kirin 970 with 8 cores (4 working at 2.4 GHz and the other 4 working at 1.8 GHz) . However, what changes is that one has Neural Processing Unit (NPU)), while the other does not.

Also, we should note that the camera will work better and be more efficient with the Kirin 970. Although, from our point of view, we do not see the need to change a Mate 9 for a Mate 10.

photographic section

In this section, Huawei continues to bet on the Leica signature on its devices. In both terminals we will have similar sensors that work in the same way, although that does not mean that things do not improve in the Mate 10. If we look closely, the focal aperture goes from being 2.2 (Mate 9) to a much brighter 1.6 and at the height of an LG V30 (Mate 10).

On the other hand, we remember that the Mate 10 by having the Kirin 970, will improve the performance of this section. In addition, the entire SoC works intelligently to identify the photo that we are taking and adjusts the parameters automatically (something that the Mate 9 does not do).

Autonomy

In this section we keep the same battery capacity for both phones. However, as we’ve noted, the Mate 10’s processor is a bit more efficient and cranks out a higher resolution display, as far as we’re concerned we think the battery life will be the same for both phones.

In short, is changing a Huawei Mate 9 to a Huawei Mate 10 a good idea? From our point of view, it is not at all. If you have a Mate 9, it is not worth exchanging it for a Huawei Mate 10. Also, very soon it will be updated to Android Oreo officially. Why change the Huawei Mate 9?
