Foldable Huawei P50 Pocket Officially Announced

Huawei has announced its first foldable smartphone with a clamshell design. The Huawei P50 Pocket costs about 1250 euros and competes with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Motorola Razr 5G.

Information about the Huawei P50 Pocket leaked earlier, but now the folding phone with folding screen has been officially announced. Samsung and Motorola are getting a competitor in the clamshell foldables category. The Huawei P50 Pocket has a premium look and features, among other things, a 6.9-inch foldable OLED screen with a resolution of 2790 x 1188 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The smartphone also has a small screen on the back of the housing, just below the camera module. It is a round screen with a size of 1.04 inches and a resolution of 340 x 340 pixels. This screen shows, among other things, incoming notifications and can also be used if you want to take a selfie. Internally we find a Snapdragon 888 processor with 4G modem, 8GB or 12GB RAM, 256GB or 512GB storage space, a 4,000 mAh battery with support for 40W fast charging, a 10.7-inch selfie camera and a triple rear camera with a 40MP main lens, a 13MP ultra-wide angle lens that doubles as a macro lens and a 2MP “super spectrum”. With the super spectrum you can check whether you have applied sunscreen correctly or whether you have removed your make-up.

The fingerprint scanner is on the side and there is support for dual SIM, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6 and NM card support. Google services are missing. The Huawei P50 Pocket is available in the colors black, gold and diamond white and costs in China converted 1245 euros (8GB + 256GB) or 1522 euros for the gold premium edition with 12GB of RAM and 512GB storage. It is still unclear when the global launch will take place.
