The new Fire TV: voice remote control thanks to Alexa
From April 20, Amazon’s Fire TV Stick will also be able to be operated by voice input. This is made possible by the Alexa voice remote control, thanks to which you can give the program all commands with your voice. Read what features the new generation of the stick offers you and what role Alexa plays in it.
The new Fire TV Stick from Amazon has sophisticated voice control.
At the latest with the new Fire TV Stick, it becomes clear how strongly Amazon wants to establish the cloud software Alexa in the market.
How the Alexa Voice Remote works on the Fire TV Stick
This is what the new Fire TV Stick can do:
- The remote control has built-in voice recognition and serves as a receiver for all your commands. As with the Amazon Echo and Echo Dot, the recognition works very well, so you don’t have to hold the remote control in front of your mouth like a microphone. It is enough if she is in the area.
- The most important commands are very intuitive and are easily understood. Typical commands such as “Alexa, start Netflix”, “Alexa, search for action films” or “Alexa, start the next episode” should significantly increase the ease of use.
- But Alexa’s capabilities go beyond controlling media content. The well-known Alexa skills are also available with the voice remote control, for example querying the weather and traffic or ordering a taxi via MyTaxi.
Apart from Alexa, the new Fire TV Stick is also a clear upgrade in terms of performance: According to official figures, it is 30 percent more than its predecessor. Films and series should therefore run even more smoothly, especially with high quality. Since the price of the new stick is still 39.99 euros, Amazon expects the success story that the Fire TV has written to date to continue.
