Review: Minecraft: Story Mode – Episode 6: A Portal to Mystery
Before reading this review, I encourage you to read the review of episodes one, two, three, four and five.
It’s time for the first, over programmatic episode of Minecraft: Story Mode. The base story has been completed, now our heroes move around different worlds using magical portals.
The first significant difference in this episode is visible from the very beginning. Change of style. This is by far the darkest episode so far. Our heroes are locked in an old mansion where they will have to fight for their lives. Crazy gentleman in a white pumpkin mask will play with the heroes a bit like in the saw series movies. Yes, you read it right. Of course, this is not as brutal as the famous movie series, but the atmosphere is similar. And it will not be without death. It’s an exceptionally dark episode, which I really like, but I’m not entirely sure if it’s suitable for younger players.
Unfortunately, it is also not the longest stretch. It will take us several hours to complete the story. It’s not much in the context of the story as a whole, but it’s still one of the shortest episodes in the series.
I honestly admit that the story presented in this episode was really intriguing. I dare say that this is probably the best episode so far. The story is now closed, so it’s hard to say what the next episode will look like, but at the moment I’m very happy.
Portal rating: 9
