Remove “Recommended by Pocket” – how to proceed
Using the pocket feature, Mozilla Firefox suggests articles and websites in new tabs. If you do not want to use the feature or if you find the suggestions annoying, you can deactivate the function. Find out how to turn off the Pocket feature in Firefox here.
Switch off the Pocket feature in the Firefox settings
If you no longer want to receive recommendations from Pocket when you open new tabs in Firefox, you have to deactivate the feature in the browser settings. The function cannot be completely removed, but switching it off should be sufficient so that recommendations are no longer displayed in new tabs. Follow these steps to disable the Pocket feature in Firefox:
- Open Firefox.
- Click on the three lines in the top right to open the menu and go to Settings.
- Use the navigation on the left to switch to the “Home” category.
- Scroll down to “Contents of the Firefox start screen” and uncheck “Recommendations from Pocket”.
The change is immediately adopted by the browser. If you now open a new tab or go to the Firefox start page, Pocket will not propose any new websites or articles to you.
Block advertising – this is how it works
You can block annoying advertisements on websites with the help of ad blockers such as uBlock Origin or Adblock Plus. You can easily add the extensions using the Firefox add-on management.
