When a brand launches a new product, we always ask ourselves if it is worth the change. Others, however, have doubts as to whether it would be convenient to opt for the new model or the old one. Is the OnePlus 6T worth it?
Just recently we revealed all the features of the OnePlus 6T and concluded by saying that it was a great phone but… are there so many differences with the OnePlus 6 to consider the change? Let’s take a closer look at the issueto see what happens.
OnePlus 6T, a very good evolution
First of all, we already told you that, for us, the OnePlus 6T is the best of the high-end Android right now. Compact size, barely noticeable notch (thanks to the water drop style), the second most powerful device in AnTuTu (officially), good autonomy and a very fast on-screen fingerprint reader. The problem is that the OnePlus 6 has little to envy.
Instead of making you wait, we already anticipate that, from a OnePlus 6, not worth updating. However, in case you decide to buy one of the two, reserving the OnePlus 6T is the best option and we will explain why. The price it barely changes, and that’s a good thing.
Different design, but same power and camera
This will be what most of you are wondering. The OnePlus 6T is prettier. It has a very good AMOLED optic panel, the eyebrow is very small and it integrates a larger screen in a compact body but… what about its interior?
The OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T they are almost as powerful. We have a Snapdragon 845 processor, 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB of storage in the latter. We find more capacity but nothing more, we are not going to notice differences in power over OxygenOS.
The hardware is practically the same, reason to stay with the previous one
There is also no jumping in the camera. The hardware is exactly the same, a 16 MP rear sensor with f / 1.7 and another 20 MP with the same focal length. The front camera also does not receive any kind of change. A new night mode is added but this will also arrive on OnePlus 6.
Another advantage of the latter is that comes with Android Pie, a version that the OnePlus 6 will also receive. It is not a reason to change, but it is to opt for the new model. A better autonomy is added that could add one more hour of screenas much.
The novelty, the fingerprint reader on the screen
The powerful OnePlus 6T removes the fingerprint reader from the back to make the leap to an ultrasonic fingerprint reader on the front. That makes it become a feature totally exclusive and that we see in very few mobiles.
It works quite well and although it is not as secure as the classic fingerprint readers, it is much better than voice recognition and more comfortable than facial recognition. From our point of view it is one of the few reasons for opt for the new model.
We also enjoy protection Gorilla Glass 6 on the screen against the protection 5 of the OnePlus 6. Perhaps it is not a reason for change, but in the resistance test it has proven to be harder.
The bad, there is no headphone jack on the 6T
New Year New Life. And the worst thing is that the OnePlus 6T has had to do without the headphone jack. You can get sound through USB C or use Bluetooth headphones.
Of course, OnePlus has released some Bullet for USB C port although this will not come in the box, but a adapter for the old audio jack to the USB C port. OnePlus has chosen to do the same as the others and gain space inside the device.
