Nintendo prioritized gameplay when developing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
In the fourth video of making of from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Satoru Takizawaart director, shared some fun facts about the game’s development and the team’s way of thinking.
In the video below, at 4:28 minutes, we can hear takizawa comment on how the team chose to give greater importance to the response of the controls and features of the gameplay than the graphics.
As the team responsible for the art and design, of course we wanted to deliver realistic and beautiful graphics, but the focus was on designing the visuals so that they were up to date with the game’s features and facilitated player comfort.
When it came time to decide between making the game more beautiful or improving the responsiveness, we always chose to prioritize the game’s features and improve the responsiveness. I hope players will experience the world for themselves and not just watch in-game videos.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available from March 3 for Switch and Wii U.
