Intel repeats 14nm in its new 8th generation Coffee Lake processors

While we wait for the new chips with Canon Lake technology we manufacture in 10nm that are expected by the end of this year, we will have to talk with the new processors Intel 8th generation which will arrive in 4 variants Coffee Lake-U, Coffee Lake-X, Coffee Lake-S and Coffee Lake-H.

This new generation Coffee Lakewill continue to be manufactured in 14nm by Intel itself and incorporates refinements in its production process that improve the quality of the chips. The performance improvement with respect to the 7th generation will be, according to Intel, 15%, without a doubt a very optimistic figure. To see the real jump in performance and energy efficiency, we will have to wait for the Canon Lake processors already manufactured in 10nm.

The details of these new processors are scarce but everything indicates that the low consumption U range, which is the one that most interests us, will be able to mount 4 cores while the rest of the families will be able to reach up to 6 cores all integrating a GPU GT2. These new processors will hit the market possibly at the end of 2017 and will try to compete directly with the AMD Ryzen.
